Earth Friendly Chemical Free Shampoo

How to shampoo your hair without store bought shampoo

I am going to try this.  Anyone else brave enough to try it too?

  1. Hi all,

Ok! I tried the baking soda shampoo and vinegar rinse yesterday. I was skeptical because I have hair that is past my shoulders and it is thick and naturally curly so it needs conditioner to be manageable, or so I thought. I was pleasantly surprised by the results I got with this new way of shampooing. My hair did smell like vinegar longer than I liked but my hair curled up nicely and it was very manageable. I usually just blow dry the top of it and let the rest of it dry while occasionally scrunching the curls in. I also added a tiny bit of coconut oil to it while it was still wet before blow drying.
So my conclusion is that I will be doing this more often for sure. I was very pleased with the results.

Anyone else try it yet? What were your results? I would love to hear from you.

    Bye for now,
    Sally

  2. I wonder if you could add something other than an oil. I tend to have oily hair and the longer, curly hair, also.

  4. Hi Musings of a Modern Mom,

I have to apologize for not being clear with my directions. I don't put coconut oil into the shampoo or rinse, I put it directly on my hair after I use the shampoo and rinse.
I have long thick curly hair that is on the dry side and I need something to help manage the dryness that is why I use coconut oil. So you can omit that step in your routine.
Hope that clears things up for you.

    Have a great day.
    Sally

  5. Hi beloved Mama,

Love your picture. Looks like you might have taken it yourself. Great job.

I am happy that you are following. I am new to this blogging thing so I hope to not make too many mistakes along the way. But that is how we learn.

Checked out your site just a bit. I raised 2 boys of my own. Well, I did have help from my sweet husband.

Isn't Ruby for Women a great site? I love the atmosphere there. It can be a bit overwhelming with soooo many pages of working women and men though. Do you find it overwhelming at all?

    Well have a great day,
    Sally
