Being a woman doesn’t make me a different kind of Christian, but being a Christian makes me a different kind of woman.” ~ Elisabeth Elliot

Crazy Weather

Okay, so back on March 1st if you remember, I posted about how pretty the falls were in the frozen state that they were in. Here is a little reminder if you didn't see that post.
So today I have to post this new photo which was taken just 10 days after that one and in the same state.
The temperature was in the high 50's that day. I knew that I just had to take advantage of the divine warm weather and dry some laundry outside. That is one of my favorite things about warm weather, the ability to dry your laundry in the bright sunshine and warm breezes. But isn't the weather in the Northeast just crazy???? I know others are experiencing weather just as crazy elsewhere too. And I am sure that we all are ready for this cold "stuff" to be gone so that we can peel off some layers and let the suns' warmth sink deep into our bones. Until then I thank God for the blessing of my cozy fire from our little wood stove. And the hard working husband who cut and stacked all the wood we needed to keep it going. Have an awesome day!

The Victor Marx [True] Story Of Healing and Forgiveness

I have been following Deep Roots At Home for a while because Jacqueline covers a lot of subject matter that I feel is important.  And because you can feel through her blog how much she truly cares for the people she is reaching out to. And today I find in her latest post this video about Victor Marx and his battle with abuse that he went through most of his childhood.  It is such a moving story and I highly recommend that you watch it and then share it.

A Little Day Trip

My family and I took a little day trip on Sunday to go check out an indoor flea market that sounded like it would be fun. You never know what you will find at a flea market.......Unfortunately I didn't find anything that I couldn't live without. Oh well. But we continued our ride and after stopping for a bite to eat we headed for a park where we saw some frozen waterfalls.
It is hard to tell how tall these falls were in this picture. I took it with my little cell phone camera. But the next one
shows the stairs that go along the falls all the way up to the top. I am putting this park on our summertime hiking fun list for sure.
And we will have to remember to bring our bathing suits with us because this picture shows a circular stone steps leading into what is a swimming hole at the bottom of the falls. How fun and refreshing that will be after hiking the hills around the falls and in the park. Then eating a picnic lunch at one of the picnic tables we saw there. Oh, I can't wait!
And even though it was very cold we had smiles on our faces because we were having a good time together as a family. Even though my two sons didn't want to get in the pictures they were there enjoying themselves. We also stopped at a very nice shop that sold handmade wooden furniture and collectibles. Here are some shots I took inside.
As you can see the store was nicely decorated and very full of such lovely treasures.
Pottery
Ready for Easter
The back porch was chocked full of wonderful benches, stools, tables, cupboards, and signs. Beautiful wood pieces.
We just loved this table and bench.
And isn't this such a unique chess set.
And on our way out I spotted this trio. When I was a little girl we heated with wood stoves and we had one similar to this one. And I hope you can see that old cash register behind the chair. Well we had a wonderful time on our day trip today and I hope you enjoy looking at the photos I took. Thanks for visiting. Have an awesome day.

How to Ferment Orange Juice into Orangina From The Healthy Home Economist.

I have made my own kombucha with good success so making fermented orange juice looks doable. Sarah, The Healthy Home Economist, makes it look quite simple to do even if you haven't ever done anything like it before. I think I will try making it for my husband who loves orange soda. When I try it I will post the results for everyone.

Here is a couple of links to her videos on how to make kombucha if you would like to check it out.

Serene's Sourdough Recipe

Serene from Trim Healthy Mama shows how easy, if not a bit messy, it is to make your own sourdough starter and bread. She is a very busy mama with a big family and still makes all their bread from scratch.

Have an awesomely blessed day.

Virtue Makes You Beautiful

I first saw this video on Deep Roots At Home where Jacqueline wrote a great article about girls dressing for God and not for the world. This video is so much fun to watch and I think it makes a good statement with all the guys dressed in shirts and ties telling girls how beautiful they are when they choose to dress modestly. I really like Jacqueline's blog and the way she lovingly reaches out to young women.

Watch it and enjoy.
