My Helpful Spaghetti Preparing Hint

I don't know about all of you, but when I first started out in married life cooking for my husband and myself, I didn't have a lot of experience or know many short cuts and special tips to help make the cooking experience more enjoyable. So I wanted to share this little helpful tip for those of you who have not heard of it before. It helped make preparing spaghetti go much faster and easier, since before I learned to do it this way I was breaking the noodles in little batches at a time and putting them into the water. And now that I make 2 pounds of spaghetti at a time, it is a real time saver.

Start by laying a kitchen towel that is folded in half onto your counter.

Then lay your opened box or boxes of spaghetti with the flaps folded out of the way onto the middle of the folded towel.
Pour the spaghetti out of the box/boxes carefully while keeping it bunched together with your other hand.

Now fold the towel over the bunch of spaghetti and roll it up inside the towel, pushing in the spaghetti ends to make it even and straight. Don't stress over every piece being exactly straight. Just try to keep it fairly even.
So when you are done rolling it up it looks like this. You should have room at each end of the towel to close off the ends with your hands when you do the next step.
So grab the towel in both hands as pictured above and hold the ends closed with your ring and little fingers as you ......
place the center of the bundle on the edge of your counter and bend the whole thing over the edge of your counter till all the pasta breaks in half.

Then all you have to do is carry it over to your pot of boiling water and while holding onto one half of the bundle, dump the other half in to the pot, then flip the half you were just holding so it is above the water and dump it in as well. So much easier for me then when I was breaking small bundles at a time and chasing  little pieces of dry pasta that went flying all over the counter.

I hope you find this as helpful as I did.

Have a great day,
